Odour Control

Alron has been researching the field of odour control and odour modification for decades. The results of this research have resulted in a range of products that have
to modify/distort a prevailing odour image. Each product has a carefully selected odour profile that is intended to take control of different types of odour nuisance.

  • B.O.C - Universal remedy for e.g. mould odour, sewage damage, and dry boiling.
  • Pine bark - Suitable for light smoke damage, garbage rooms, corpse removal, etc.
  • Green - Suitable for all types of light odours.
  • Apple - A mild remedy. For most types of light odours.
  • Citrus - Suitable for fire and smoke damage.
  • Mint - The most powerful agent in the series. For special injuries.
  • Odourless - Mild peroxide formulation for neutralisation of temporary odour damage in small premises.

Odour control systems

Alron's odour remediation philosophy is essentially about removing odours by removing and breaking them down at their source. It is virtually impossible to permanently remove bad odours unless the source of the odour is physically or chemically removed. Odour removal methods are numerous and often require a combination of them: scraping, cleaning, disinfection by oxidation or by microbial degradation.

Mask odour

The Alron Odour Control system is about odour modification, i.e. removing bad odours by masking them. With a carefully selected natural essence, you can take control of and mask a particular type of odour. This works by blocking the nose's ability to perceive the odour and instead only the pleasant scent is registered. This can be likened to psychologically removing a bad smell. An example of this is adding a citrus scent to an odour damage caused by fire. The citrus scent makes it difficult for the nose to detect the smell of smoke because these types of smells are registered in the same place in our noses. The citrus scent thus fools the nose and takes over the smell image, allowing us to dispel the unpleasant smell of melted plastic, rubber, burnt protein and wood etc. without actually removing the smell of fire itself.

Odour modification & our odour control range

Odour modification is completely at odds with our view of how odour remediation should be carried out, i.e. removing odours. The addition of strong perfumes and fragrances often complicates the work of odour remediation, as it can be difficult to know whether an odour has been eliminated and thus produce a misleading final result. Odour control should therefore not be confused with odour remediation, but should be seen as a tool to alleviate odour symptoms and be used to create a tolerable working environment during remediation, to hide odours that have spread from the site of damage or to leave a fresh odour impression after completion of the remediation.

Our Odour Control range consists of a number of fresh scent variants that are able to hide various types of odour damage. Odour Control is available in both water-based, for wet application, and glycol-based, for application as a fine smoke with a fogger.
