20 March 2024Avoid sewer blockages with biological sewer maintenance
Caustic soda and other environmental and health hazards will eventually be phased out from the domestic market. Their corrosive properties damage pipes and can cause acute blockages requiring extensive flushing or milling. In addition, the number of injuries to adults and children caused by clog removers has increased significantly in recent years, as reported by the Swedish Chemicals Agency on its website.
As a gentler alternative, Alron has developed a microbiological product that uses bacteria to keep pipes clean and free of blockages. The bacteria eat organic residues such as fat, protein and carbohydrates that are often the cause of bad odors and clogs in the sewer system.
Bio-A also works as a grease trap in individual sewage systems and mini-treatment plants.
The municipality of Grum had long had problems with sulphur odor from its sewage pumping stations
- "We had major problems with odor, and since the stations are sometimes adjacent to residential areas, we received many complaints, but after we started using Bio-A from Alron, the problems have ceased. The product is very cost-effective and easy to use with the associated dosing pump," says Jimmy Gunnarsson, ARV at Grum Municipality.
